In April, Samsung announced updates to its Galaxy A series, its family of budget phones that are poised to compete against Apple's latest iPhone SE for 2020. While some models have new features like 5G, all of them are at mid-range budget and have headphone jacks.One of the new phones, the Galaxy A51, is a sequel to 2019's Galaxy A50. This year the Galaxy A series has become more diverse. Samsung has released the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A40, A50, A70 and A80 smartphones with a focus on new AMOLED screens and the latest camera features. And our guest, the Galaxy A50, has to show us both.The Galaxy A50 2019 may not be as cool as the latest Galaxy S20 phones, and it may not be as cool as the Z Flip. At launch, with great prices and lower discounts than Samsung at a lower price point, the A50 ranks in the top 2 Android phones hitting the market last year.
Galaxy A series has always been equipped with premium mid-range drivers. However, Samsung's strategy for it has undergone several changes. From all-metal cell phones and waterproof designs to bizarre experimentation and recent experimentation, it has the latest in innovative features like serrated AMOLED and ultra-wide-angle shooting.
Galaxy A50 is a complete smartphone with as many features as possible. Start with a sleek design with color gradations and progress to a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a premium fingerprint reader at the bottom. On the back is a powerful Exynos chip and a triple camera.Network, call and voice quality-
Samsung Galaxy A50 supports LTE bands 2,3,4,5,7,12,13,20,25,26,28,41,66,71. It is compatible with all carriers in the US and also has 71 lanes for T-Mobile subscribers in rural areas. When testing the Verizon network in midtown Manhattan, the average data transfer rate was 57.4 Mbps down and 64.8 Mbps up. The call quality is good. The noise cancellation works great and this 68dB speaker can be a little difficult to hear calls on busy roads, but it's great for indoor calls. This speaker is equipped with 82 dB, so it is enough to be heard even in a noisy room.
The downside is that the Galaxy A50 speakers below are disappointing. You can easily fill a room with a maximum volume of 93dB, but the higher the volume, the better the sound quality, so you don't want to rely on multimedia broadcasting. Thankfully, there is a headphone jack for wired audio and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless audio and portability. NFC is also present for mobile payments.Galaxy A50 Design
-A plastic Galaxy
* Fingerprint Display
* plastic structure
* suitable for multi-color s
* Prone to scratches
Samsung M series and A trimo phones share many design elements in common. The Galaxy M30 and A50 are very similar. No problem, Samsung has made enough changes to the product to make it stand out. The Galaxy A50 boosts the gradation of the M30 and gives it a very interesting curved sheen. This phone looks great and grabs attention. Samsung decided to use plastic everywhere in order to keep the weight of the phone at 166 grams. Of course, the downside is that this phone is a fingerprint and shock magnet. This phone can get scratched over time, it comes in a quality case. The reduced weight combined with excellent ergonomics allows you to comfortably hold the Galaxy A50.
The back panel smoothly flows and curves around the edges ensuring there are no hard edges hurting your palm. The central frame is made of metal and has the volume rocker and power button on the right. On the left is a tray with dual nano-SIM card slots as well as a dedicated microSD card slot.
At the bottom of the phone is the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port and speaker grill. Speaking of speakers, the volume is much better than the M30 and the audio is much richer. Aside from defining focus for the high frequencies, there are several low frequency sounds and you can safely turn up the volume if you want. You may have noticed that there is no fingerprint scanner on the back. This is because the Galaxy A50 uses an on-screen optical fingerprint scanner. It works fine, but not as fast as a standard capacitive fingerprint scanner. The display scanner takes at least 1 second to recognize the biometric data and play it back on the phone. Personally, I found an option to unlock the face faster, but it's definitely not safe.
The front of the phone is very similar to the Galaxy M30. The Samsung Galaxy A50 Infinity U-Clip features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display. The side and top bezels are as thin as this category, but the design is hidden by a slightly larger chin at the bottom. The full screen-to-body ratio is 85.2%, which is very good.Galaxy A50 Display
-Amoled At A Great Price
* 6.4-inch Full HD+
* Super AMOLED
The 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display on the Galaxy A50
is definitely one of the highlights of this phone. It's really awesome, and watching multimedia content becomes an enjoyable experience. Widevine L1 DRM support allows phones to stream HD content from Netflix. The Galaxy A50's Super AMOLED display is a pleasure to look at. The screen is so bright it still looks a bit overwhelming. There are options in the settings menu that you can tweak to your liking. Black levels are also quite deep due to the Super AMOLED display. The Galaxy Galaxy A50 has a good viewing angle, and the phone works comfortably outdoors. Screen brightness is not limited to direct sunlight. The phone has the ability to constantly activate notification mode, which is great because there is no dedicated LED indicator.Hardware-
* Exynos 9610
* Mali G72 MP3 GPU
* 4/6GB of RAM
* 64GB of storage
* 15-watt fast charging
The Galaxy A50 is powered by the Exynos 9610 chipset, which hasn’t been seen on any Galaxy phone yet. Built on a 10nm fabrication process, the chipset uses an octa-core big.LITTLE architecture. The four Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.3GHz are powerful enough for almost anything you throw at the phone while the four Cortex A53 efficiency cores clocked at 1.6GHz ensure that the phone sips power when not performing an intensive activity. There’s a Mali G72 MP3 GPU handling the graphics end of the business.
The phone ships with 4GB or 6GB of RAM depending on the variant you opt for. Both variants have 64GB of storage which is definitely a bit odd.
The Samsung Galaxy A50’s battery performance is right in line with what you would expect from a phone with a 4,000mAh battery. The phone lasts a full of day with moderate use and has enough charge left over to last half of the next day too. Even with heavy gaming use, the phone sips power and you should be able to get a full day of use easily. In our testing with a mixed-use case of gaming, social media use and music streaming, the phone consistently managed over six hours of screen on time. The phone supports 15-watt fast charging.
Network performance was exemplary on the Galaxy A50 and the phone managed to hold a signal even in a low network environment. Calls sounded loud and clear at both ends.

Solid midrange power
The Exynos 9610 ensures that everyday use for the Galaxy A50 is of the utmost importance. Whether it's UI navigation, animations, gestures, or just about any app running on your phone, it keeps your clips stable. Samsung plays a huge role in hardware setup and phone usage. By default, the UI animation is slightly taller, but it's easy to disable it (highly recommended).
The GPU section is supported by the Mali G72 MP3 player and we are delighted with it. The most obvious test is to try the most popular smartphone games. The phone is set to ultra mode to maintain a consistent frame rate in PUBG. I did not notice a lag and the towing distance was long. The phone heats up even during long games. Without a doubt, the Galaxy A50 offers one of the best PUBG options in this mobile category. We connect the phone through several indicators.Software-
* Android 10 (Shipped with Pie)
* Samsung One UI
* Some bloatware
The Galaxy A50
software comes with Android 9.0 Pie and Samsung One UI. In recent years, Samsung's user interface has become increasingly sophisticated and not unlike the available Android. The most notable changes include a dedicated navigation bar, a suite of Samsung apps that duplicate much of Google, and Samsung Bixby, which replaces Google's feed. We tested a Verizon review that included nearly a dozen software updates (including Samsung itself). Luckily, I was able to remove all of them. The Galaxy A50 doesn't have the latest Android version, but the 2020 map seems to have an update. However, after this time, all bets will be excluded. If software updates are important to you, the Pixel family runs on Android and you can receive operating system updates for at least 3 years.Samsung Galaxy A50 Benchmark Test

-Good But Not pixel
* 25MP primary camera
* 8MP wide-angle
* 5MP depth sensor
* 25MP front-facing camera
One of the main features of the Galaxy A50 is its triple camera system. Samsung has again opted for a 25MP main sensor (1.7 aperture), which combines a 5MP sensor (2.2 aperture) and an 8MP wide-angle sensor (2.2 aperture). For the selfie enthusiast, there is also a 25MP camera (f / 2.0 aperture) precisely positioned in the U-shape, and the A50's camera app offers features like Professional Mode, Live Focus, Panorama, Slow Motion, Hyper-Lift, AR- emoji and more.
Samsung has also added an AI-based option for intelligent scene optimization. Samsung recently started adding support for high-performance HEIF and HEVC formats, which can be enabled in the settings. Portrait mode works fine. Edge detection is excellent.
How does the Galaxy A50 camera work? Well, it can deliver crisp and clear images throughout the day. Like most Samsung cameras, the Galaxy A50 tends to maintain high exposures to make photos look better without sacrificing shadows.
Details aren't as bright as the Note 7 Pro, but measurements are more consistent, especially in difficult lighting. Samsung is adding a wide-angle camera that's fun and fits better in the frame. The image captured by the wide angle lens does not match the image from the main sensor and there is severe distortion around the edges.
Like most phones on this budget, it doesn't have a dedicated night mode. The Galaxy A50 can take decent shots in low light, but it does a poor job on large screens. In front-facing selfie, the Galaxy A50's 25-megapixel front camera captures detailed self-portraits in adequate lighting. It also has a live focus option for bokeh effects that you can tweak later.
The 25MP front-facing camera produces images that look good on screen but are once again short on low-level details. Compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and its pixel-binning-capable 48MP camera, the Samsung Galaxy A50 doesn’t do as well but it is still a versatile performer that can get good-looking shots as long as there is sufficient light.
With consecutive software updates, Samsung has consistently improved imaging performance on the A50 and it still holds up well against the competition.
* Portrait mode works fine. Edge detection is very good.
* Dynamic range and contrast are great in outdoor settings.
* The camera can lock focus on close objects easily.
* Lowlight camera performance is reasonable.Battery life and charging:
After all, Samsung has a larger, faster rechargeable battery in every phone, and the Galaxy A50 is no different. The narrow metal case of the device houses a 4000mAh battery that can generate 15W of power when the adapter is replaced. In Tom's Guide's battery test, which did the job of loading a website over LTE until it ran out of power, the A50 shuts down after 9 hours and 37 minutes. Given the size of the battery, the hair looks a little too short, but that's not bad. The Pixel 3a scored 12 hours in comparison and made it to the list of phones with the longest battery life. And it's not so fast for fast charging batteries. In the past, I wasn't surprised because the 30W and 40-15W charging technologies in OnePlus and Huawei weren't in the "fast" category. As a result, 15 minutes after connecting to the internal adapter, the A50 averaged 17%, and then 33%.Pros-
* Attractive design reminiscent of flagships
* Excellent Amoled display
* Premium look and feel
* Good battery mileage
* One UI interface
* Supports HD streaming on Netflix and Prime
* On-screen fingerprint scannerCons-
* Average low light photography
* Average gaming performance
* Fingerprint sensor is not the snappiest
* Mediocre speaker
* Camera falls short of Pixel 3a
* Feels a little cheap
* Video resolution is only 1080pOUR VERDICT
The Galaxy A50's camera won't dazzle you, but it is still an excellent value with a class-leading display and solid performance.
